Medina of the Future
A friend of mine emailed me these amazing pictures entitled “Medina of the Future.” I don’t know their origin or what sort of plans, aspirational or operational, they are but I thought that I should post them up here for everyone’s enjoyment. If you have any details please share in the comments.

First Uniquely American-Muslim Wedding Tradition
A couple days ago I was at a Muslim wedding. A couple of friends and I were talking to the groom giving him our salaams and congratulations before leaving. I off-handedly remarked to one of my buddies that we need our own American Muslim wedding traditions. I know that at Pakistani wedding the bride’s […]

Most Muslim men probably know that they should grow their beards. Some of them make excuses saying that beards are itchy of some such other nonsense. Others like to say that it’s not an obligation. Most probably know the religious reasons and rewards for growing your beard but here are the top […]

As a note I think it is a […]

Does the Iron Man Movie Stereotype Muslims?
I have seen the recent trailer for the upcoming Iron Man Movie and while admittedly my guilty pleasures include superhero movies, I am hesitant to watch this one.
For anyone who was paying attention, a few prominent and familiar Hollywood bad guys appear in the trailer. Apparently, the generic, one dimensional Middle Eastern terrorist returns […]

I recently received this email from R. and I thought it was worth sharing here:
Asalaam Aleikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu,
Brothers, Sisters, Friends,
The biggest news since, I dunno…. NO MORE WONDERING where the nearest Masjid is… NO MORE TRYING to find a halal spot close by.
Alhamdulliah, I have been helping Shahed, the founder of Zabihah.com and Salatomatic.com, […]

Gems from Shaykh Waleed Basyouni’s Khutbah
I recently attended a khutbah by Shaykh Waleed Basyouni which was artfully conducted in both Arabic and English. In it he had two quotes, which I paraphrase here. that I thought are worth sharing.
“Being a true faqih [one with true understanding of religion] does not mean knowing the difference between good and evil but […]

This Is How Muslim Men Go Gay
So this is how Muslim men turn gay. It seems Faisal Alam, founder of the queer “Muslim” group al-Fatiha, is not some sexual deviant with a perverted agenda but the victim of a broken heart. Though, in all fairness, I think he took things a little too far.
