I was on MR’s blog and I read his latest post on Obama saying he will make it clear that the US is not at war with Islam. Really, now. Are we stupid?
This is yet another example of why I am fed up with this Obamamania amongst Muslims. The honest truth is that this dude is a hack. His campaign is all rhetoric and no substance. He wants to say that America is not at war with Islam. While that is arguable if you want to delve into semantics, but there is no question that America is at war with Muslims, and not terrorists either, just regular old Muslims. Evidence: Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia et cetera. Either they invaded these countries or support their dictators.
Rather than saying that the Bush administration has targeted Muslim countries, apologize for it and describe how his policies will be different, he affirms the Bush lie that the US is fighting al-Qaeda. This sort of rhetoric is just what Muslims need. He will set up some conference of Muslim countries where he will repeat fairy tales to Muslims and expect them to nod and clap enthusiastically.
He says he will close Guantanamo, but who cares? Leave it open if you want, but tell us how you intend to treat those prisoners. Will you give them legitimate trials? Will you recognize the Geneva convention on torture? These are the things we want to hear.
Why doesn’t he mention the big elephant in the room, Israel? If he really wants to change things in the Middle East he should talk about how he is going to handle the Zionist barbarians in the region. Is he going to continue to support tyrannical pro-US regimes? Let’s hear the meat and potatoes of these issues.
Rather he is going to promote democracy in the Middle East (Bush senior’s democracy?) and women’s rights. Women’s rights? They are the women of the Middle East, who the hell are you to go in there and start talking about, not trade, not diplomacy, not international relations but women’s rights? This is the same type of paternalistic colonial dialog that Muslims have been hearing for a couple hundred years. For Muslims to lap this stuff up is disgusting.
If we look at candidates like Ron Paul and Ralph Nader, they unequivocally reject Israeli violence and US interventionism in the Muslim world. But these arrogant statements from Obama inspire more enthusiasm in American Muslims than legitimate alternatives. Is voting for Paul and Nader wasting your vote? Not if you think it’s more important to vote for what’s right rather than the lesser evil. Just because you MAY be on the losing side doesn’t mean it’s not the right side. Personally, I would rather lose while being with the people of justice than win when being with the people oppression.
Make your choice!!!
