I just saw the Iron Man movie and I must say I am not an Iron fan. I’ll put aside the demonizing two-dimensional portrayals of Arabs and Muslims and just focus on the movie. (more…)

If you weren’t paying attention to the news lately you would have missed the massive coverage given to eight murdered Jews in a Jerusalem Yeshiva.  We got to see pictures, we met the rabbi and friends of the victims.  Compare this to the coverage of the recent massacres in the Gaza strip where 120 Palestinians were killed.  Also you can check this article out where Zionist terrorists in the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) raided an orphanage and stole millions of dollars of equipment.

You can judge for yourself if the coverage is fair.

I was on MR’s blog and I read his latest post on Obama saying he will make it clear that the US is not at war with Islam.  Really, now.  Are we stupid?

This is yet another example of why I am fed up with this Obamamania amongst Muslims.  The honest truth is that this dude is a hack.  His campaign is all rhetoric and no substance.  He wants to say that America is not at war with Islam.  While that is arguable if you want to delve into semantics, but there is no question that America is at war with Muslims, and not terrorists either, just regular old Muslims.  Evidence: Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia et cetera.  Either they invaded these countries or support their dictators.

Rather than saying that the Bush administration has targeted Muslim countries, apologize for it and describe how his policies will be different, he affirms the Bush lie that the US is fighting al-Qaeda.  This sort of rhetoric is just what Muslims need.  He will set up some conference of Muslim countries where he will repeat fairy tales to Muslims and expect them to nod and clap enthusiastically.

He says he will close Guantanamo, but who cares?  Leave it open if you want, but tell us how you intend to treat those prisoners.  Will you give them legitimate trials?  Will you recognize the Geneva convention on torture?  These are the things we want to hear.

Why doesn’t he mention the big elephant in the room, Israel?  If he really wants to change things in the Middle East he should talk about how he is going to handle the Zionist barbarians in the region.  Is he going to continue to support tyrannical pro-US regimes?  Let’s hear the meat and potatoes of these issues.

Rather he is going to promote democracy in the Middle East (Bush senior’s democracy?) and women’s rights.  Women’s rights?  They are the women of the Middle East, who the hell are you to go in there and start talking about, not trade, not diplomacy, not international relations but women’s rights?  This is the same type of paternalistic colonial dialog that Muslims have been hearing for a couple hundred years.  For Muslims to lap this stuff up is disgusting.

If we look at candidates like Ron Paul and Ralph Nader, they unequivocally reject Israeli violence and US interventionism in the Muslim world.  But these arrogant statements from Obama inspire more enthusiasm in American Muslims than legitimate alternatives.  Is voting for Paul and Nader wasting your vote?  Not if you think it’s more important to vote for what’s right rather than the lesser evil.  Just because you MAY be on the losing side doesn’t mean it’s not the right side.  Personally, I would rather lose while being with the people of justice than win when being with the people oppression.

Make your choice!!!

Islam in TurkeyWesterners and progressive “Muslims” who have been clamoring for an Islamic reformation can salivate over this recent tidbit from the BBC. I am not going to talk about how a so-called reformation is the surest path to destroying Islam as it has Christianity in Europe. Others have done so and they’ve done it better than I could. Also, it doesn’t take a genius to easily discredit this Turkish government project. Apparently since Islam cannot be obliterated by the Kemalist government, the next best thing is to alter it to fit their desire to “modernize.” Observe:

the Turkish state has come to see the Hadith as having an often negative influence on a society it is in a hurry to modernize, and believes it responsible for obscuring the original values of Islam.

One of the very foundations of Islam is obscuring the original values of Islam. Brilliant. According to astrolabe.com the adviser to the project, Felix Koerner, is a Jesuit priest. Take from that what you will. Aside from the obvious negative implications of such an ideologically transparent program as “editing” classical hadith texts using “Western critical techniques and philosophy” the really dangerous phenomenon is not readily apparent. smear: verb. to sully, vilify, or soil (a reputation, good name, etc.) Obama the Muslim?

It seems that Muslims are always clamoring for someone, anyone to recognize that there is such a thing as Islamophobia. Well, they can take a breather as recently, ABC news released the first part of a series on Islamophobia, you can watch it here. Some may be tempted to heap praise on ABC for their expose, can I get an allahu akbar? Well, the fact of the matter is that the media is largely responsible for Islamophobia and rather than praising them for their “great work” we should acknowledge that this is a step in the right direction towards remedying all the damage they have caused. If you want to investigate Islamophobia one need not go any further than the recent headlines regarding the “smearing” of Obama for being a Muslim. (more…)

Flag of KosovoThe Balkans are serious about remaining true to the word they inspired “balkanization” with yet another state seceding from the former Yugoslavia. This new state however is a rather tiny one with an overwhelming Muslim majority and is the third Muslim state in Europe joining Albania and Turkey. Should Muslims be happy for our fellow brothers and sisters or deeply concerned about where this is all heading?
