Gimme a Break Obama!!!
Posted by themanoffewwords under Current Events, Politics
I was on MR’s blog and I read his latest post on Obama saying he will make it clear that the US is not at war with Islam. Really, now. Are we stupid?
This is yet another example of why I am fed up with this Obamamania amongst Muslims. The honest truth is that this dude is a hack. His campaign is all rhetoric and no substance. He wants to say that America is not at war with Islam. While that is arguable if you want to delve into semantics, but there is no question that America is at war with Muslims, and not terrorists either, just regular old Muslims. Evidence: Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia et cetera. Either they invaded these countries or support their dictators.
Rather than saying that the Bush administration has targeted Muslim countries, apologize for it and describe how his policies will be different, he affirms the Bush lie that the US is fighting al-Qaeda. This sort of rhetoric is just what Muslims need. He will set up some conference of Muslim countries where he will repeat fairy tales to Muslims and expect them to nod and clap enthusiastically.
He says he will close Guantanamo, but who cares? Leave it open if you want, but tell us how you intend to treat those prisoners. Will you give them legitimate trials? Will you recognize the Geneva convention on torture? These are the things we want to hear.
Why doesn’t he mention the big elephant in the room, Israel? If he really wants to change things in the Middle East he should talk about how he is going to handle the Zionist barbarians in the region. Is he going to continue to support tyrannical pro-US regimes? Let’s hear the meat and potatoes of these issues.
Rather he is going to promote democracy in the Middle East (Bush senior’s democracy?) and women’s rights. Women’s rights? They are the women of the Middle East, who the hell are you to go in there and start talking about, not trade, not diplomacy, not international relations but women’s rights? This is the same type of paternalistic colonial dialog that Muslims have been hearing for a couple hundred years. For Muslims to lap this stuff up is disgusting.
If we look at candidates like Ron Paul and Ralph Nader, they unequivocally reject Israeli violence and US interventionism in the Muslim world. But these arrogant statements from Obama inspire more enthusiasm in American Muslims than legitimate alternatives. Is voting for Paul and Nader wasting your vote? Not if you think it’s more important to vote for what’s right rather than the lesser evil. Just because you MAY be on the losing side doesn’t mean it’s not the right side. Personally, I would rather lose while being with the people of justice than win when being with the people oppression.
Make your choice!!!

Pingback from Why Ron Paul Supporters Should Vote For Barack Obama
March 5th, 2008 at 9:02 am[…] few fellow Ron Paul supporters were baffled when I said I support Obama AND campaign for him. Some thought I bought into his inspiration and message of change. That is not true at all. Here is where I […]

You dream big MOFW. Half the things you said in this post is what a Muslim president would do, not a non-Muslim president. Especially in this country where the Muslim lobbyists are practically non-existent.
I’m voting for the only man running: Barack Hussein Obama.
The others are losers and girls (McCain, Nader, Billary).
In the end, Allah has already written it down who will become the next President of the US. It is only a matter of time when it will be revealed to us.

Very well said. Alhamdulillah FINALLY someone who’s not all Obama crazy! sure he appears to be the lesser of the evils. but are people going to just forget his comments about Pakistan? He’s not Muslim.. and yes it appears that he is better than McCain and Hilary.. but why are we treating him like a hero? remember back in the day when Muslims went out voting for a president (BUSH vs GORE) and we thought bush was the lesser of two evils?
In all honesty you cant trust ANYONE and anything they say. I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but it’s not beyond thinking that you take someone who’s extremely popular and has everyone ranting and raving on him and it all be a front in the beginning then sooner than you know it he too will unleash hell. (nothing would surprise me)

AA- MOFW,
Well said! I’ve been saying the same stuff for the past few months as well. You just seem to have a better way with words.

MR: You are right about many things, you speak many truths, as does the Mr. Man of a Few Words. The question is what is the realistic and expected outcome of this 2008 election? What will it change, what will it destroy and what will it produce? Will it actually have any type of material or substantial effect in the world, in the Middle East/Muslim World? Or does it really mean “didly squat” and is just a charade which hides the underlying, amazingly organized, resilient, complex system of unregulated capitalism mixed with extreme right wing Christian theology, blood thirsty and land hungry Jews and misguided/”uncle tom”/extreme Shia/extremely modern Muslim leaders and masses banded together by the army of shaytan manipulating and guiding the world into the direction of the very near and oncoming destruction and trials of the Dajal (anti-Christ)? The fact of the matter is that it won’t change anything. It is like Micro versus Macro. Obama will bring slight change to policies in the U.S., but still leading to the ultimate “path of life” this entire world has adopted. Obama, Clinton or McCain are all going to do nothing spectacular. The only One who will change anything, or allow anything to change is Allah swt. Our job is to stick to our values and principles and continue to be agents of the message which the Prophet PBUH gave us to spread and live by. We can all sit here and think we know what Obama or Hillary will end up doing for the world, but we barely know what our own selves can or cannot do. Great example: try to commit to an exercise program for two weeks. You don’t even know if you will or will not actually go through with the 2 weeks. If we have no clue as to what we are capable of OURSELVES, how can we sit here and guess what another human being is capable of by watching him on TV and reading stupid, made-up information about their “policies” on-line. What we all can do, however, is look into ourselves and our communities and people as a whole and analyze and admit the condition that we are in, which will REALLY give you an indicator as to what will happen in the future. If we, as Muslims, can’t get our lazy fat butts off of our couches and cozy “70 deg room temperature all year round” homes and actually do something for our brothers and sisters who are starving all over the world, why in the heck would you expect Obama, Hillary or McCain to do it? Instead of analyzing the candidates, I think everyone needs to analyze themselves to truly figure out what will change or stay the same in the world in the next 4 or 8 years.

MR … that’s all bunk bro. Everything that I asked for in my post is perfectly reasonable to ask from any candidate not just Muslim or non-Muslim. It’s not a religious thing, it’s a justice thing. This race is not about justice though … it’s about ambition.
Contrast that with heroes like Paul and Nader, the underdogs and those who don’t care what anyone thinks, they speak with conviction and sincerity.
As for that quote … the only reason the Lobby is making noise is because they prefer Hillary. Israel will be brought up during the election but the measure will be how fast the candidates’ knees hit the floor when it’s name is mentioned.

Shirien, Na’eem thanks for the support.
Chuck, your post made me nauseous.
Adult, you have a point … it’s important that everyone who really cares to actually do something besides voting. To be engaged year round in grassroots projects. This advice includes me as well. And first and foremost we all depend on ALLAH.

Uhmm…Chuck bro, what gives with your post? Is it meant to be satirical?

Naeem, it’s sad because I think he is serious.
